“I have set my king
on Zion, My Holy Hill.”
Thou, O Lord, art a shield about me,
my glory, the lifter of my head.
Answer me when I call, O God of my right!
For in death there is no remembrance of Thee
O Lord my God, in Thee do I take refuge
what is man that Thou art mindful of him
I will give thanks to the Lord with my whole heart
Arise, O Lord; O God, lift up Thy hand
In the Lord I take refuge
Do thou, O Lord, protect us
How long must I bear pain in my soul
O that deliverance for Israel would come out of Zion!
speaks truth from his heart
when I awake, I shall be satisfied with beholding Thy form
my God, my rock, in whom I take refuge
The law of the Lord is perfect,
reviving the soul;
we boast of the name of the Lord our God
We will sing and praise Thy power
Thou art holy,
enthroned on the praises of Israel
I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
Lift up your heads, O gates!
and be lifted up, O ancient doors!
that the King of glory may come in.
Make me to know thy ways, O Lord;
teach me thy paths
I will tell of the decree of the Lord
The Lord is the strength of His people
The voice of the Lord flashes forth flames of fire
Sing praises to the Lord, O you His saints
Be strong, and let your heart take courage,
all you who wait for the Lord!
I acknowledged my sin to Thee,
and I did not hide my iniquity;
I said, “I will confess my transgressions to the Lord”;
then Thou didst forgive the guilt of my sin. ***
Behold, the eye of the Lord is on those who fear him,
on those who hope in his steadfast love,
that he may deliver their soul from death,
and keep them alive in famine.
The Lord redeems the life of his servants;
none of those who take refuge in him will be condemned.
Let those who desire my vindication
shout for joy and be glad,
and say evermore,
“Great is the Lord,
who delights in the welfare of his servant!”
For with Thee is the fountain of life;
in Thy Light do we see light.
Commit your way to the Lord;
trust in Him, and He will act.
I am utterly spent and crushed;
I groan because of the tumult of my heart.
Hear my prayer, O Lord,
and give ear to my cry;
hold not Thy peace at my tears!
For I am Thy passing guest,
a sojourner, like all my fathers.
But may all who seek Thee
rejoice and be glad in Thee;
may those who love Thy salvation
say continually, “Great is the Lord!”
As for me, I said, “O Lord, be gracious to me;
heal me, for I have sinned against Thee!” ***
My soul thirsts for God,
for the living God.
When shall I come and behold
the face of God? ***
Oh send out Thy Light and Thy Truth;
let them lead me,
let them bring me to Thy Holy Hill
and to Thy Dwelling!
For our soul is bowed down to the dust;
our body cleaves to the ground.
Rise up, come to our help!
Deliver us for the sake of Thy steadfast love!
With joy and gladness they are led along
as they enter the palace of the king.
Be still, and know that I am God.
I am exalted among the nations,
I am exalted in the earth!”
The Lord of hosts is with us;
the God of Jacob is our refuge.
God has gone up with a shout,
the Lord with the sound of a trumpet.
Sing praises to God, sing praises!
Sing praises to our King, sing praises!
For God is the king of all the earth;
sing praises with a psalm!
Walk about Zion, go round about her,
number her towers,
consider well her ramparts,
go through her citadels;
that you may tell the next generation
that this is God,
our God for ever and ever.
He will be our guide for ever.***
Why do you glory in what is evil
you who are mighty by the Mercy of God?
All the day long
Have those who work evil no understanding,
who eat up my people as they eat bread,
and do not call upon God?
Save me, O God, by thy name,
and vindicate me by Thy might
My heart is in anguish within me,
the terrors of death have fallen upon me.
For thou hast delivered my soul from death,
yea, my feet from falling,
that I may walk before God
in the light of life.
Awake, my soul!
Awake, O harp and lyre!
I will awake the dawn!
Nay, in your hearts you devise wrongs;
your hands deal out violence on earth.
For lo, they lie in wait for my life;
fierce men band themselves against me.
For no transgression or sin of mine, O Lord,
for no fault of mine, they run and make ready.
Rouse thyself, come to my help, and see! ***
Thou hast made the land to quake, thou hast rent it open;
repair its breaches, for it totters.
So will I ever sing praises to Thy name,
as I pay my vows day after day.
For God alone my soul waits in silence;
from Him comes my salvation.
Because Thy steadfast love is better than life,
my lips will praise Thee.
Let the righteous rejoice in the Lord,
and take refuge in Him!
Let all the upright in heart glory!
Blessed is he whom Thou dost choose and bring near,
to dwell in Thy courts!
We shall be satisfied with the goodness of Thy house,
Thy holy temple!
Come and hear, all you who fear God,
and I will tell what He has done for me.
May God be gracious to us and bless us
and make His face to shine upon us,
that Thy way may be known upon earth,
Thy saving power among all nations.
Sing to God, O kingdoms of the earth;
sing praises to the Lord
Let the oppressed see it and be glad;
you who seek God, let your hearts revive.
But I am poor and needy;
hasten to me, O God!
Thou art my help and my deliverer;
O Lord, do not tarry!
But I will hope continually,
and will praise Thee yet more and more.
My mouth will tell of Thy righteous acts,
of Thy deeds of salvation all the day,
for their number is past my knowledge.
May all kings fall down before Him,
all nations serve Him!
But when I thought how to understand this,
it seemed to me a wearisome task,
until I went into the sanctuary of God;
then I perceived their end.
Thou didst divide the sea by Thy might;
Thou didst break the heads of the dragons on the waters.
I commune with my heart in the night;
I meditate and search my spirit ***
I will tell of the decree of the Lord
Do not remember against us the iniquities of our forefathers;
let Thy compassion come speedily to meet us,
for we are brought very low.
Restore us, O God;
let thy face shine, that we may be saved!
Blow the trumpet at the new moon,
at the full moon, on our feast day.
They have neither knowledge nor understanding,
they walk about in darkness;
all the foundations of the earth are shaken.
Let them know that Thou alone,
Whose name is the Lord,
art the Most High over all the earth.
For a day in Thy courts is better
than a thousand elsewhere.
I would rather be a doorkeeper in the house of my God
than dwell in the tents of wickedness.
Show us thy steadfast love, O Lord,
and grant us thy salvation.
Teach me Thy way, O Lord,
that I may walk in Thy truth;
unite my heart to fear Thy name.
The Lord loves the gates of Zion
more than all the dwelling places of Jacob.
Thou hast caused lover and friend to shun me;
my companions are in darkness.
I will not remove from him my steadfast love,
or be false to My faithfulness.
Let Thy Work be manifest to Thy servants,
and Thy Glorious Power to their children. ***
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High,
who abides in the shadow of the Almighty,
will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress;
my God, in Whom I trust.”
It is good to give thanks to the Lord,
to sing praises to Thy Name, O Most High;
to declare Thy steadfast love in the morning,
and Thy faithfulness by night,
to the music of the lute and the harp,
to the melody of the lyre.
[a]The Lord reigns; he is robed in majesty;
the Lord is robed, he is girded with strength.
Yea, the world is established; it shall never be moved;
Blessed is the man whom Thou dost chasten, O Lord,
and whom Thou dost teach out of Thy law
to give him respite from days of trouble,
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
Let us come into His presence with thanksgiving;
let us make a joyful noise to Him with songs of praise!
Worship the Lord in holy array;
tremble before Him, all the earth!
He has remembered his steadfast love and faithfulness
to the house of Israel.
All the ends of the earth have seen
the victory of our God.
Extol the Lord our God,
and worship at his holy mountain;
for the Lord our God is holy!
Of old thou didst lay the foundation of the earth,
and the heavens are the work of thy hands.
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
and all that is within me, bless His Holy Name!
When thou hidest thy face, they are dismayed;
when thou takest away their breath, they die
and return to their dust.
When thou sendest forth thy Spirit,[c] they are created;
and thou renewest the face of the ground.
So He led forth his people with joy,
His chosen ones with singing.
And he gave them the lands of the nations;
and they took possession of the fruit of the peoples’ toil,
to the end that they should keep his statutes,
and observe his laws.
Praise the Lord! ***
Save us, LORD, our God;
gather us from among the nations
That we may give thanks to Your Holy Name
and glory in praising You.
They mounted up to heaven, they went down to the depths;
their courage melted away in their evil plight;
My heart is steadfast, O God,
my heart is steadfast!
I will sing and make melody!
Awake, my soul!
In return for my love they accuse me,
even as I make prayer for them.[a]
Your people will offer themselves freely
on the day you lead your host
upon the holy mountains.[b]
The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom;
a good understanding have all those who practice it.
His praise endures for ever!
For the righteous will never be moved;
he will be remembered for ever.
He is not afraid of evil tidings;
his heart is firm, trusting in the Lord.
Who is like the Lord our God,
who is seated on high
Tremble, O earth, at the Presence of the Lord,
at the Presence of the God of Jacob,
Who turns the rock into a pool of water,
the flint into a spring of water.
The dead do not praise the Lord
I walk before the Lord
in the land of the living.
Praise the Lord, all nations!
Extol him, all peoples!
I shall not die, but I shall live,
and recount the deeds of the Lord.
Let me live, that I may praise thee,
and let Thy ordinances help me.
I am for peace;
but when I speak,
they are for war!
I lift up my eyes to the hills.
From whence does my help come?
Peace be within your walls,
and security within your towers!
To Thee I lift up my eyes,
O Thou Who art enthroned in the heavens!
Our help is in the Name of the Lord,
Who made heaven and earth.
As the mountains are round about Jerusalem,
so the Lord is round about His people,
from this time forth and for evermore.
Unless the Lord builds the house,
those who build it labor in vain
Unless the Lord watches over the city,
the watchman stays awake in vain.
Your wife will be like a fruitful vine
within your house
your children will be like olive shoots
around your table.
The Lord is Righteous;
He has cut the cords of the wicked.
I wait for the Lord, my soul waits,
and in His Word I hope
I have calmed and quieted my soul
This is my resting place for ever;
here I will dwell, for I have desired it.
It is like the precious oil upon the head,
running down upon the beard,
upon the beard of Aaron,
running down on the collar of his robes!
Come, bless the Lord,
all you servants of the Lord,
who stand by night in the house of the Lord!
O house of Israel, bless the Lord!
O house of Aaron, bless the Lord!
O house of Levi, bless the Lord!
You that fear the Lord, bless the Lord!
Blessed be the Lord from Zion,
He who dwells in Jerusalem!
Praise the Lord!
O give thanks to the God of heaven,
for His steadfast love endures for ever.
Let my tongue cleave to the roof of my mouth,
if I do not remember You,
if I do not set Jerusalem
above my highest joy! ***
I give Thee thanks, O Lord, with my whole heart;
before the gods I sing Thy praise
O Lord, Thou hast searched me and known me!
Deliver me, O Lord, from evil men;
preserve me from violent men,
who plan evil things in their heart,
and stir up wars continually.
Let my prayer be counted as incense before Thee,
and the lifting up of my hands as an evening sacrifice!
When my spirit is faint,
Thou knowest my way!
I stretch out my hands to Thee;
my soul thirsts for Thee like a parched land.
I will sing a new song to Thee, O God;
upon a ten-stringed harp I will play to Thee
Every day I will bless Thee,
and praise Thy Name for ever and ever.
Praise the Lord, O my soul!
Praise the Lord, O Jerusalem!
Praise your God, O Zion!
Praise the Lord!
Sing to the Lord a new song!
